Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent for the $$ Comment: I've owned this for 2 days now, and am extremely pleased with it. After charging it for a few hours like the instructions said, I paired it without any problems at all with my Motorola PEBL, Motorola RAZR, Mac PowerBook (built-in bluetooth) and PC running Windows XP (bluetooth adapter). Instruction manuals say you can make up to 8 pairings. Each pairing only took seconds to detect, and paired successfully on the first try. I've tested calls with each pairing, and they came through excellent. On the computers, I used the headset to chat on Skype. Crystal clear even on Skype, on wireless broadband at home. On a T3 network, the connection is even better! Although the pairings took no time, the PC connection took 3 tries the next day. Somehow, my headset won't connect to the PC, but on the 3rd try, it succeeded.
I had no problems with echos. I asked the people on the other end to let me know if they hear echos. I don't like turning the volume on my end all the way up, so I can't tell you what the loudest setting is like. But at the default volume, I was able to hear the conversation without a problem.
It doesn't hurt my ears. It took me a few tries to figure out how to place it properly on my ear so that it is stable, and doesn't hurt me. (My first try was awful, and scrunched my ear up.) I also wear 3 earrings, and the headset doesn't bother my ear.
Distance: At around 6-7 feet distance from my PEBL, the headset starts getting staticky. At around 5-6 feet distance from my PowerBook, the headset starts getting staticky too. However, this does not pose a problem for me. It might be problematic for people who want to leave their phones in one place, and walk all over the house without having to carry the phone.
Excellent product for price I paid! Strongly recommend for now. If my headset breaks or the quality starts deteriorating in an unreasonable time, e.g. within 1 year, I will update. Given the price I paid, and the bad reviews that this headset has had which almost put me off this headset, I am extremely pleased and give it 5 stars.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nokia HS-26W Comment: 4/7/07 Update: The headset died this week. I don't use it much at all because of the issues below. But it won't react to the charger. I tried reseting it like the manual suggests. And no lights will come on it now - it seems to be completely dead. Nokia warranty will replace it with another model, but the other model doesn't look as nice. But a working headset is better than no headset!
2/27/07 The other reviews were so great that it persuaded me to buy this headset. At first I was amazed - even had it under my helmet while skiing and had one great hands free experience while zipping down the slope. But I'm finding while I'm in quieter situations that all of my callers tell me there is an echo. I'm wondering if the microphone is so sensitive that it picks up the sound coming from the earbud (which also has a strong solid sound)?? Also, I've had quite a crackly sound on over 50% of the calls. I have an LG phone (Verizon Chocolate Flip). I've actually thought I should just return this, but haven't simply because I'm lazy and think it is too late now. I'm also imagining I'm doing something wrong, but can't imagine what. I need to experiment more with turning the volume down to see if I can eliminate the echo.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's not compatible with my new phone.... Comment: I really like this headset, although it's not compatible with my new phone (LGCU500). If you have a Nokia, it's great. The music plays in your ear just like the phone when a call comes in. It has great distance. I could actually be in another room talking and it works just fine. I can't say that for Motorola.
The battery life is good, also. It's a great price for a great product, I just wish it worked with my new phone......
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing! Comment: I purchased the Nokia bluetooth headset couple of months back and its been a fantastic purchase for me.
Sound quality is amazing..very clear and loud. My friends do not even notice when I answer calls thru it...microphone is awesome.
Its very easy to use ...no need for any manual and fits easily on both ears.
Great Buy!
Customer Rating: Summary: The most comfortable fitting unit. Comment: I found this to be the most comfortable fitting unit I have ever used. The sound is clear and connects easily every time. I tend to try to buy Nokia branded accessories for the simple reason that their stuff is always somehow a notch above anything else you can find. However, may I say, do not lose the instructions because you probably won't remember how to pair it to a new phone! Now please excuse me while I go look for the instructions...
