Summary: A realistic southern perspective
Comment: This book summarizes the whole breadth of the Civil War succinctly. We read that the Southern Generals were far superior to those in the North, that it took Lincoln more than 1/2 the war to find a general that fight, although bloody like a steamroller. We then read of interesting biographies of the main players in the conflict, with the noteable absence of my favorite Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, who most reecently a professor of rhetoric at Bowden College in Maine, steeled himself by reading and training to make himself a superior oolonel in charge of the 20th Maine, to hold the left side of the Union line even using a suicidal bayonet charge. He served the 3rd day with Gen Hancock repulsing Pickett's Charge, went on yo be wounded severely in Petersburg. He was mustered out and then became Governor of Maine, carrying that wound the rest of his days.

Summary: politically correct guide to the civil war
Comment: This is a well written, fast moving, interestng thesis on the civil war from a southerner's point of view. It is well worth reading, particularly if you are unreconstructed.

Summary: Really Enjoyed it
Comment: Excellent book. Unfortunantly the people who need to read it most probally won't. For those of you who are considering the book, over half of it is devoted to biographies of the Generals from both sides. The book was very "fair and balanced" on both sides. It really shows how a few small cahnges in leadership or events could have changed the shape of the World

Summary: Inspiring acount of the late injustice
Comment: If you ever had any inkling of a doubt that the South was on the correct side of the war, this book will banish those doubts from your mind forever. It is a very informative, well-written even-handed account, giving credit where it is due on both sides. It also very accurately reveals the blatant hostility of the aggressors in the war that destroyed the notion of government of the people, by the people and for the people. Read it today. You owe it to yourself to be properly educated rather than indoctrinated by Yankee propaganda.

Editorial Reviews:

Get ready for a rousing rebel yell as bestselling author H.W. Crocker, III (Robert E. Lee on Leadership) charges through bunkers and battlefields in The Politically Incorrect Guide(TM) to the Civil War. Crocker busts myths and shatters stereotypes as he profiles eminent--and colorful--military generals while taking readers through chapters such as "The Civil War in Sixteen Battles You Should Know" and culminating in the most politically incorrect chapter of all, "What if the South Had Won." Revealing little-known truths, like why Robert E. Lee had a higher regard for African Americans than Lincoln did, this is the "P.I.G." that every Civil War buff and Southern partisan will want on their bookshelf, in their classroom, and under their Christmas tree.
